STRATFORD, you can't believe its a hosting borough of The Olympic Games 2012 do I hear you exclaim? Well it is!

Having talked about most towns in Newham, I had left a certain one till the end, as I believe this is where changes are happening, big changes. This is where Newham will be marked in history forever, as Stratford is where the Olypmic stadium is being built. As a host Borough, Newham will see advantages which it was not liable to in past years, but that is about to change. So let me introduce to you Stratford, the future of Newham.
This is the current plan of the Olympic stadium, which is being built in Stratford. The commence of the structure started in May 2008, three months prior to its actual start date. The Olympics Games 2012 will be held here, bringing employment, more housing, tourists and general welfare to the borough. The innovative Olympic Stadium design allows for an 80,000 seat Athletics stadium to be converted into a more easily maintained 25,000 seat venue after the Games.
This is an image of what the final stadium is set to look like.

Here is a short video to remind you of all the great places the Olympics were held, and now that place is also marked on the map, London!

Having looked at the bright future, lets take a look at its present aswell. Straford is home to Stratford Shopping Centre, which is being expanded in to a little village of its own, again raising the prosperity of this borough.
This a bird's eye view of the new Stratford City, set to evolve around the next 15 years, watch this space!
Covering 73 hectares of largely derelict land, the next 15 years will see the creation of a new £4bn metropolitan centre in East London, with more than 100 shops, three big department stores, cafés, schools, hotels, parks and health centres. New urban districts will house an extra 11,000 residents and 30,000 workers. I believe that is astounding, don't you?
